The EMPAS generates and stores the Pulse Descriptor Word (PDW) and Intra-PDWs from one or more input signals from many types of (super heterodyne) receivers. The PDWs includes frame lengths, RF, PRI, number of captured pulses and more information.
The EMPAS captures an RF/IF input bandwidth of up to 700 MHz at a sampling rate of up to 210 MSPS with 12 bit resolution (14 bit optional). A snapshot viewer provides real-time information on spectrum and time-based acquisitions. A Graphical User Interface provides real-time system monitoring and control, recording progress, playback and various export features. The generated PDW and IPDWs are stored and can be quickly analyzed by third party analysis software to perform fine-grained pulse analysis.
The EMPAS consists of several System Replacement Units (SRUs). The Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) provides one or more signal input connectors and hosts the digitizers and heterogeneous processing modules. The DAU ouputs the captured data via SCSI or Fibre Channel to the JBOD data storage module. EONIC offers a choice of several (third-party) storage subsystems. The EMPAS is modular and can be configured with other combinations of digitization and processing modules. A Console Terminal and Power Distribution Unit are optional. The EMPAS is provided with an extensive documentation set and two years limited warranty.
The EMPAS can be configured for COMINT usage. Optionally the EMPAS can be equipped with real-time communications intelligence capabilities and automatic detection functionality.
